Multiforce Systems Case Study
Case Study: City Government's Changing Fleet Technology Needs Handled With An Advanced Fuel Management System
Situation/Challenge:
In 1989, the City and County of Denverss Public Works Fleet maintenance Division was looking for a cost effective, environmentally conscious fuel management solution that could be implemented within their government budget constraints.
Solution:
The Denver Fleet Division selected Multiforce's FuelForce team to implement a fuel management solution for a fleet of 1,900 vehicles, 6,800 fueled equipment and over 10,000 drivers at 17 fueling sites in 7 locations. The fuel management system package provides secure authorization and tracking of fuel from fuel dispensers of unleaded, diesel, bio-diesel, E85, and propane, as well as anti-freeze, hydraulic oil, and motor oil fluids.
Benefits/Results:
Some of the benefits that the City and County of Denver has obtained from the FuelForce include the overall tracking of the fuel & fluid system, the increased accountability at the automated sites, the value of fuel reconciliation, and the detection of potential leakage problems.
The system matches fuel issues to delivery data obtained through the data integration with Veeder-Root TLS consoles. FuelForce enables a central view of all Veeder-Root TLS information which allows for more efficient deliveries as well as the ability to remotely monitor alarms or any potential leakages.
One upgrade that has saved both time and money is the implementation of the card-less keypad. The FuelForce fuel controller cross references internal security and allows authorized personnel fueling through an alphanumeric keypad. Actual card and labor cost saving continue from the elimination of the cards. Advanced "Odometer Reasonability Checking" has allowed the City and County to avoid purchasing costly vehicle tags which can have significant maintenance and labor costs.
Other benefits include data integration with the Agency's fleet management software, allowing the early detection of PM issues and the better control of preventative maintenance.
Since 1989, the FuelForce system has continued to provide technology upgrades to meet fleet's goals for fuel & fluid control.
